i have a 2 year old. she complains of pain everytime she is touched, we have an appt set up for her. when ever she is touched even lightly she says i hurt! she was born at 3lbs, spent 3 weeks in NICU. she was released and things have been good for the last 2 years. anyone else have any problems like this? I also have a 4 year old soon to be 5, she is constantly pinching her skin and bitting herself, she doesnt do this to her little sister. she has had a stressfull year with the lose of her pop pop and her grandma being in a coma. she sees a therpist but to me it seems to be more, she does say she sees her pop pop in her bedroom at night and tells me grandma is okay! just wondering if there is anyone out there who have these issues

Default Re: chronic pain

Your 2 y.o. might have what's called a dysfunction of sensory integration. Here's a link that is explains more:

Your other daughter might also have sensory issues, that are being exacerbated by the stress and anxiety of her loss.

Has the therapist brought this up with you?

Getting your child checked out for sensory integration issues is good advice. The earlier you do so, the quicker you can respond appropriately! It is scary to have our children checked out for "issues", but knowledge is power, and can help us to help our kids. And sometimes, getting them checked actually rules out some factors. Either way, it can be a relief to actually know what is going on. If you can name it, you can tame it!
