Age: 17-30 mos. Child development. Does one stop a 2year old from painting his hands and making a hand print on paper and/or his high chair tray or table, or let them be expressive and learn about the media. They put the paint on their face, and sometimes put it in their mouth. I let them know food is for eating not paint. Also, I do not want to discourage them or be too rigid. Art is freedom. Let them know it is all right to get it on tray or table or even their hands. Coordination not good at this age.
I finger paint with my children. Put out a long piece of paper covering two tables.Children are on foot. (12 children) I just let them use their fingers, hands, and experience the feeling, see the color and designs and be creative.
What are limits for mess and expression, or are their any. Questions related to learning through child development.
We are in a childcare facility.
Some people think it is gross for kids to get their hands dirty. It turns their stomach when the kids put the paint brush in their mouth. Toddlers do this stuff. How do I handle this?
Thank you,
